In his artistic practice, Viktor Ponomarenko discusses the essence of objects and the frailty of existence, the connection between matter and space, raises themes of ecology and the phenomenon of consumption, in particular, disposable things - things that live momentarily and are immediately thrown away. The very existence of these objects, according to the artist, is key to understanding the behavior and lifestyle of modern man. Disposable things and fast food in Ponomarenko's works are an allegory for the transience of life and the futility of pleasures, operating in the Vanitas genre. Experimenting with the aestheticization of garbage, the author creates still lifes in the spirit of Dutch painting of the 17th century, as well as landscapes that refer to the plots of magical and metaphysical realism, where the main characters are fast food, packaging and disposable things. The detail, the verified composition and the subtle play of light give a new temporal dimension to "fast" things. The very fact of the artist’s attention and admiration for them breaks the logic in which these objects are produced and exist.
