When working on his works, the artist inevitably puts his experiences and ideas into them - everything that makes up his unique life experience. The viewer does the same, interpreting art and analyzing it through the prism of his own knowledge and worldview. In her famous essay "Against Interpretation," Susan Sontag writes about the inadequacy of interpretation as a way of perceiving art, replacing direct dialogue with the work with the imposition of reductionist schemes that reduce a holistic aesthetic phenomenon to dry content.

ABOUT THE SERIES OF WORKS "REFLECTION/REFRACTION"

In his series of works “Reflection/refraction”, inspired by the works of the masters of color field painting, the artist comprehends the problem of interpretation in the relationship between the viewer and art, using a laconic visual metaphor. Light reflected from the glossy surface of monochrome canvases and refracted through it changes the visual characteristics of the paintings-objects, creating a flexible and fluid image that transforms along with the surrounding space. Looking at the work, the viewer sees his own reflection in it, shining through the textured color spots, changing their own shades depending on the lighting. Just as when interpreting art, he discovers in it only the remnants of his own experience, closed in the contextual framework relevant to his time.
